Camp provides a truly enriching experience that cannot be duplicated in any other environment or under any other circumstance. Camp is a child-oriented world.
A child at Gan Israel learns to play and compete within carefully designed limits and recognizes that certain types of competition can be a creative force adding to the enjoyment of the game. Then, the valid questions become, "did I try?", "did I learn?, and "did I have fun?" rather than, "did I win?"
The foundation of Gan Israel is a tangible sense of 'Ahavat Yisrael' -- love of a fellow Jew, regardless of background, affiliation, or level of Jewish knowledge. Campers experience pride in their Jewish heritage, gain crucial skills for living, and make friendships that can last a lifetime. They also have so much fun that they don't even realize how much they're learning!
Staff
Child development is the most significant ingredient in a healthy camp experience. This is why our staff is the real secret to our success. Our experienced counselors are known for their personal warmth and ability to care for each child as an individual. Many staff members return year after year, lending experience and continuity to all programs. Each counselor is a role model for our children, promising them friendship which will last forever! Their love for the children is surpassed only by the children’s love for them.
Facility
Our campsite, located at the Kernsville Elementary School is uniquely suited for a great camp experience. The spacious indoor and outdoor facilities will enable us to provide campers with summer fun, whatever the weather outside. A specially designed pre-school playground, playing fields, and air-conditioned bunks and common areas all add to the Camp Gan Israel summer experience.
The camp location is a beautiful campus with grassy playing fields, , a basketball court, indoor gymnasiums, an art studio, an auditorium and air conditioned facilities. Camp Gan Israel rents an outdoor swimming pool, monitored by trained and licensed aquatics professionals.
